Sunny Spring and George Home

Happy Sunny April! With this lovely weather come all things sunny and new! I am a big believer in changing your home to represent the season, whether it is with flowers, art work or the change of the duvet! Collecting various items that reflect the season ensures you can carry on the season in the home, even if the weather outside isn’t!

A recent job has been working on the launch of George Home, part of the Asda brand. Since December I have been able to have sneak previews of the products which are great for moving around the seasons, it got me so excited for the Spring time when working on this during cold dark Winter days. For me Spring is a time to get back into my little garden, enjoy an Easter weekend and chocolate and at last that feeling of sun on the back of your neck! The George Home products cover all rooms within the home and have some lovely garden additions as well. I worked as Assistant to Pippa Jameson working on the front cover of the catalogue (which is in stores now!!) and the TV advert which is currently been aired, so instead of fast forwarding through the adverts during GoT or popping to put the kettle on have a look out for the George Home advert. (Don’t worry though, if you can’t wait for the next part of GoT or you need a brew I have posted the advert below) It showcases the Spring products such as fresh seaside inspirations to graphic butterfly prints. Check out the full range at George Home here.

Haha!

(Making a house a home - Part 2) Rented home fun - key holder

Its slowly coming up to a year of me and Dan living in our flat, way back when we had lived here a few months I did a blog looking at some  makes I had done, just to add our touch to the place. (Part One home blog). Since then I have added a few more touches to the place!

Living in rented accommodation you have to find ways around making the place yours. This can be anything from a colourful throw or fresh curtains.  The past year I have been working amongst interiors so have picked up ideas along the way which have inspired me for ideas in the flat. I have a few simple ideas to share with you which over the next few blogs, in the meantime why not check out the ladies over at A Beautiful Mess have a few more renting ideas '30-renter-friendly-dig-ideas'

My first little make was some where for me and Dan to put all the keys we seem to have collected!

I wanted to create a welcoming space to hang our keys. I had some frames from a job lying around so I decided to use one of these to create the idea. Below is my little step by step of what I ended up with.

I had seen a really cute welcome sign on Pinterest so took the basic font idea from that. These little labels where really simply made, white card measured into 5x10cm tun cut out. To add the label hole detail, I used a hole punch and outlined it to make more of a feature.

To incorporate my welcome sign into the frame I used twine, I like how it slightly matches the gold finish on the frame as well.

Because I can't hammer anything into the walls I used these awesome 3M Hooks. I've come across these whilst working with Pippa Jameson. They are a great way to adda  hook to anywhere within your home, without damaging the walls. Pippa has some great blogs here about using the 3M products. They don't only sell hooks, they offer picture hanging strips for frames, poster strips, and a large range of hooks, great for the rented accommodation! And they are very simply used, the above picture you see the sticky tab that is attached to the hook and the the wall.
The next step is to secure the hook to the wall with a firm push, and leave it there for about 30mins before hanging items.
Because we have that many keys I went for three hooks, these hooks Ive used you can find here. There are many more sizes, colours, styles available and you can pick them up in most DIY stores as well.
So this is my finished key holder display. Like I said its simple, but it does the job and adds interest to the empty space above the shoe holder. Also means keys aren't lying around the house anymore!

Thanks for reading guys! More rented home makes and ideas soon.

Next AW'13 with Ideal Home

After 6months of assisting Pippa Jameson it puts a huge smile on my face to be able to share some of our recent work.

Most recently in their October issue, Ideal Home showcased the Next Homeware range for AW 2013. This shoot I worked as Assistant Stylist to Pippa.

Photography by Jon Day.
Photo used from www.pippajamesoninteriors.co.uk.

This was such a fun shoot to work on. Working on the shoot in mid July as you can imagine from this year, the sun was beaming! Working with the talented photographer Jon Day again. It was my first time meeting the team for Next and IPCmedia who are all really lovely, the location house was also a dream as always!

The range is just what you need for this season, I especially fell in love with the cute little fox tapestry pillow and the chunky knit throws. I can just imagine getting wrapped up now that the nights are drawing in, sat with the little foxy pillow curled up next to you. Also as an avid candle fan, the candelabra is very striking. I would love this for a Christmas display or to add a dramatic effect to my already candle filled home! You can find my three favourite items on the links below and for the rest of the range click here.

If you follow me on twitter, you will know about my early morning runs to my forever favourite place, The Covent Garden Flower Market. In this shoot you can see some of my handy selection work of flowers to add to the warm and earthy autumnal colour palette Next has supplied.

Summer

Loving this continued Summer! The weather has been tip top this year, am I right!

It feels like Summer is gonna pass by so quickly though, I'v had quite a busy summer so far. Full of family, friends and work, which is all good!
I have just finished working on the popular tv series The Hotel Inspector as part of the makeover team along with Pippa Jameson. This was such a busy two months, a lot of travelling, buying, researching, making, building, was all fun though, cant wait for you to see the outcome!
More of that to come later.

I did however have chance to slip away whilst working though and head back up north, for my not so little brothers 21st! Living in London there is one thing I always miss, and thats how close Hull was to the seaside or a even a simple beach. Whilst at home on my last day the family surprised me with a little visit to Hornsea, which is a lovely little seaside town on the east coast. A little bit of a chilly day, but there was some splendid fish and chips, some ice cream, and some lovely things for me to capture.

Heres a few of my favourite pictures from my surprise day...

How lovely, an honest herb garden. Take the herb you want and place your charitable donation in a little mug!

A lovely hand written quote on the church front.

Shell Cottage!
(Ok, so it isn't the seaside home of Bill and Fleur Weasley, and where Harry and his friends take shelter. But still so cool!)

Hope the pictures make you feel all "seasidey",

location, location, location

Working on location is always fun when on a shoot. Location houses are one of my favourites, not only does it always baffle me how you can change a room within a day by changing the way it is dressed, decorated or shot, then by the end of the shoot taking it fully back to how it was when you arrived.

Iv seen some gorgeous location houses the past couple of months, they are all big inspiration me on how to decorate your home and garden. It also shows how everyone’s taste is different. There is always a trend to follow but to me, showing your personality and what you feel comfortable with is what makes a home individual to you.

For the recent shoot with Pippa I got to see two location houses, one a farm that I was extremely excited about visiting.
Here’s some pictures of the week of things that really caught my eye.
"ding, dong"

Love Moroccan styling.

Now, thats a door lock.

Random empty hole?
Fill it with an interesting find.

Alternative lamp shade.

Somewhere in the middle of Sussex.

Not everyday theres a live turkey on a shoot.

All your glasses on display.

Original beams

Everyone needs a selection of sticks.

Beautiful drive home, or away.

On one day of the shoot i showcased my new Eastpak shoes to the bunch, they got a good review form everyone.

Aaaaaand, my 'Pattie Butty' top that i got from home, which is Hull, from the shop Bowes Threads, in Hull we sell Patties, the only place that sells Pattie. Dont know what a Pattie is, well you havent lived, but thats for another time.

Thanks for reading :)

Baby Bump

During the Easter holidays, not only did I eat copious amounts of chocolate and enough of my mums’ quiche to feed me for a year, but I worked it off by doing a lovely maternity styling shoot.

Working together, me and the very talented photographer, Sarah Aylward, who is also a very good friend, worked together at creating this shoot. Not only was I working with a friend the model was also a friend, all organised as a surprise; the expectant mum was our yummy mummy Claire who was heavily pregnant with a baby girl.

Together Sarah and me planned a host of shots creating different stories. I had great fun researching and planning the shoot, then sourcing and making all the little girly props. From bunting to cream eggs, we had them all!
The whole day ran smoothly, with each shot running nicely into the next, keeping Claire happy and comfortable.

I was so happy with the final outcome, as was Claire and Sarah.

You can have a look at some more of Sarah’s photography work here, why not follow the funny old gal on twitter here, or even check out her instagram here. Everyone loves a plug!

FAV!  ^^

Claires cravings were scones and creme eggs, couldnt resist a good eating photo!

Thanks for stopping by guys, and if your interested or know anyone who is thinking of having a shoot like this, just get in touch :)
