So I turned the dreaded age of 24 last Friday, this means I’m a year away from being in my mid-twenties, a year away from being late twenties and 6 years away from being 30... But at the moment I’m happy about it especially because I got a lot of surprises and treats along the way.
On the Saturday Dan (the boy, as some people laughed at me calling him the man) had some plans for me, one to visit Borough Market. Now if you don’t live in London or you’re not really into markets, especially farmers markets, than you probably haven’t heard of it, you might hear 'market' and think its boring but believe me, it is defiantly a place to visit!
I particularly wanted to visit as research for my Final Major Project, my project which is still slightly in the initial ideas stage is based around healthy eating and fresh produce. By doing what? Well with a Giant Vegetable Patch of course, and no one of this crazy growing the veg, think along the lines of 'Honey, I shrunk the kids!'. My idea is to have a ‘Pop-up Exhibition’ over one weekend in March in three different London farmers markets, where my Giant Vegetable Patch will be on display for all visitors to have a look around and learn some facts on cooking, storing, growing and the qualities of such scrummy food. I shall tell you more on my FMP later on. Now Borough Market isn’t the most ideal place for such an event due to its very up-market style and also the amount of tourist it attracts but for pure research it was defiantly a fun day, ok and it was to try some very yummy food!!
If there is some Bridget Jones fans, which I do admit I am one, many a nights when I was single did I sit and watch both films. Then a visit here is a must, if you go and ask someone to point out The Globe pub then you’ll get to see the real location that was Bridget’s flat or the outside at least. Then turn around and behind you is the restaurant that Mark Darcy and Daniel Cleaver fall through during that famous fight scene with the funny Greek restaurant birthday singing, after that you should recognise the market as the spot that Bridget walks through in her bunny girls outfit after finding out Cleaver is a dirty cheat... (just to say I have to thank a very special tour guide for this information, although I did already slightly know this).
Any ways covering the food, atmosphere and Bridget Jones, Borough Market is defiantly a place to go when you’re down here or up here, but be ready to spend a lot than what you would down at your local Morrisons!
Now have a look at my amateur pictures and then if you have time get back to me with some feedback on my final major idea, id very much appreciate it!
The very fresh looking fish section, go on a Friday and you wont be able to move in this place apparently!! Check out the Blow fish haha!!
What I like to see 'Real Yorkshire Cheese'!!
